Plot Summary: On August 10th, 2010, a.t.b., the Holy Empire of Britannia overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames, in less than a month. Japan lost its freedom and rights and was renamed Area 11, and the Japanese people were renamed “Elevens” and forced to survive in ghettos, while Britannians lived in first-class settlements. Rebel elements persisted, however, as pockets of Japanese organizations struggled against the Empire for the independence of Japan.
After his father, the Emperor of Britannia, did nothing to pursue the terrorists who murdered his mother and crippled his sister, a young boy named Lelouch vowed to destroy Britannia. Seven years later, in Area 11, he encounters a mysterious girl who gives him the power of the Geass. With it, he finally has the power that he needs to defeat Britannia and fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister can live happily.
My Review:
First off, the animation is nice of course because its clamp creation. But the story line is basically A Death Note with mechas . The protagonist, Lelouch, is granted special powers which he can now control humans. Just like Death Note. Protagonist granted special powers to take over the world and he has a helper shinigami. To sum it all up, an character that lust with powers.
Our hero is a man of thought rather than of action and his supernatural power, the Geass, is a fascinating dynamic, they blurred his goals as questionably good or evil. Throughout the series he is contrasted with his childhood friend, Suzaku, who has become a Britannian soldier in an attempt to reform the Empire from within. Both are well-rounded, interesting characters and the series often makes us think hard about whose choice was the ‘right’ one.
If you don’t mind the darker setting of Code Geass, by all means watch it. The deep story and characters, along with stunning visuals and music, will keep you hooked. Also, I can’t really say if this anime will truly be depressing or not in the end. Because i only saw 23 episodes, the last 2 episodes is already licence and i cant find and season 2 is comming. anyways the animation is good.
