Year Published : 1995

No. of episodes : 52

Plot Summary:
Miaka Yūki is a junior-high student desperate to pass the entrance exam for the illustrious Jonan High School. Her best friend, Yui Hongo is a straight A genius applying for the same school, and her mother is pushing her also in an attempt to see Miaka gets the best education available, although Miaka would rather attend Yotsubadai High School. While Yui is returning a book in the library, Miaka drops a coin by the food machine (in the anime). When she reaches down for it, Suzaku appears before her and leads her into the Restricted Section. As the girls go through the books, Miaka stumbles across The Universe of the Four Gods and both girls start to read.
The series describes their travels and their adventures along the way to summoning Suzaku, enduring various trials along the way, both quest-driven and personal. There are also frequent clashes with Yui, who has become the country of Kutō's (or "Qu Dong" in the manga) Priestess of Seiryū and thus making the former best friends deadly enemies and rivals, along with the Seiryū Celestial Warriors.

My Opinion:

Fushigi yuugi is a big hit, and its miss yuu watase's most celebrated work. stupid girl transported to the ancient chinese time, there she meet a hunk guy that fall inlove with a stupid girl and the rest is history happy.gif and yet it become so popular.

The Animation are good. the phasing, the fighting scene, the censored part. are really cool. Miss yu watase arts is attractive, meaning. Every character may they be hero, villian or bit partners comes off as beautiful.

Fushigi yuugi is one of old anime i hate. its because of miaka character. good thing they have a really awesome ancient plot line. ( dun lang ako nag ka interest happy.gif ) and of course the drawings of the characters. Both the protagonist and the antagonist characters here are strong and very unique personalities. well except to miaka. ( she reminds me of sailormoon ).

The music: i like the opening and end theme. i even bought an album of this ( nakalimutan ko na kung san ko sya nalagay happy.gif )

Well over all, to summary it all. fushigi yuugi is all about miaka and tamahome, well i think its still worth to watch ( wag nyo na lang pansinin si miaka at tamohome against all odds ) happy.gif

Your Review:
The "Chosen One" (in this case a girl) gets transported to another dimension (in this case, Ancient China) and becomes the savior of the Land, center of attention, and the grand victor in the end.

Plot twist are abundant, the best friend becomes the enemy then returns to being a best friend and ends up being the girlfriend of the main character's brother's friend (O_o), love triangles (Err... In this case, almost all the characters fall for the ditzy, loud girl (=_=)), character deaths (T_T), the usual Bad Guy turns Good Guy thing, "Love" (Is a serious subject here...), and so on.

What can you say about?:
I liked it because it was one of the first Anime Series I got hooked. I particularly liked it because of its storyline and Character Design. This is something you'd get glued to your seats just to watch what will happen next. And on my opinion, some of the episodes are cliff-hangers to the max!

Story Line:
Just when you think that both Miaka & Tamahome won't get their Happy Ending, Suzaku makes the "impossible" happen by bringing a Character from a book to the Living World. Talk about Supernatural... biggrin.gif

Animation (Anime)/Drawing (Manga):
Animation (Anime) - 7/10
Drawing (Manga) - Unfortunately, I haven't seen the Manga.

Characters:
I especially like the following Characters: Hotohori, Nuriko, Tasuki & Yui.
To me, their characters are quite interesting up to a certain level. I don't like Miaka that much and prefer Yui over her. I actually once thought of what might've happened if Yui was the Suzaku no Miko. After much deliberation, I came up with the conclusion that the role of Suzaku no Miko suited Miaka better than Yui. happy.gif

Music (Anime)
Kinda lame... and sappy... (>_<) Too much Sentimental Songs in between some of the episodes. If I remember correctly, they didn't change the Opening & Ending Theme.

Overall Rating and why?
Overall, I give it a 6/10. Why? Let's just say, it had to do with the Characters... (^__^)
