Full Version: Subbed or Dubbed?
Yumi
I've been watching anime for the whole month of sept and oct. and i have come to the point of ignoring dub anime. specially the pinoy dub one.. happy.gif

i prefer the sub one because i like their original voices. the way they say taskite ( help me ) gomen nasai ( im sorry ) honto ni ( really? ) is so kawaii plus in the same way i learn a lot of japanese word little by little.

So how about you guys whichi will you prefer a subbed anime or a dubbed one? emo-drink.gif
Black Reaper
I prefer sub...cause most dub anime I saw makes my ears bleed, especially the tagalog version of blech.
Yumi
The bleach dub of GMA was a big mistake. emo-oh74.gif those who continue watching it until bounto arc have no sense of art happy.gif

i heard that GMA will aired Deathnote too.. ( may sisirain na naman silang anime T_T )
Black Reaper
OMG! I don't have a sense of art T_T

Well, I hope they hire professional dubber instead of letting their beloved actor/actress do the dubbing.

.. and so, the never-ending discussion among anime fans continues.

well, i do prefer subs, what's there to see with dubs? wala na ngang anime sa local tv. but ok naman talaga yung dub, since mahina yung mga mata ko, i have to pause a few times pa. mas naiintindihan ko rin yung dub. but subs are good too since most fansubbers always puts up a note for further understanding. sometimes kasi, di natin ma-gets yung jokes 'coz it relates too much on their culture, with the translator's note, mas naiintindihan natin while sa dub, either they'll just cut that certain part or make up some stupid lines to cover it.

I prefer subbed because I can learn Japanese... Dubbed is ok as long as the dubbers are pro... emo-oh13.gif

We have this topic on our forum as well... And it chased a few of our mems away... Though they came back on invite... I personally watch anime raw. . . Guess the reason as to why. . . Though Ive watched subbed and yeah pretty good... Watched dubbed and though "DAMN" excuse me for the usage of that word, but i felt it necessary to use it.
I mean who watches anime in dubb??? *reality check* no one unless theyre american or have animax or watch on GMA or ABS CBN...
Truely a downgrade of society... Anime shouldnt be dubbed in the first place.
Fenrir_Cycle
i pick subbed.

(especially on some english subbed anime AHEM-naruto-AHEM.)

but if the voice over cast is good and well known.

(like advent children and tagalog version slam dunk.)

DUBBED!

btw the way, my favorite english voice over would be Quinton Flynn

"Got it Memorized?" =sexy words!
Kyon
I go for subbed! emo-oh22.gif

Why? Coz' the conversation remain the same and the sense of humour still retain.

Unlike Dubbed, the dubber must fit in to the "mouth-movement" of the character and there are some conversation that are being cut becoz the thought or the dialog wont fit in, so the idea is a bit altered.

Comedy-subbed anime is a lot funnier that the dubbed ones IMO. emo-oh15.gif

xmpre subbed..kasi nakakawalng ganang panoorin kung dubbed eh.. emo-oh15.gif

dubbing sucks in more ways than one - english or tagalog. and so does subbed.

i've encountered really crappy subs - esp those done by chinese subbers.
ever encountered subs where the jap names/terms/words etc.. were replaced with weird sounding chinese names (obviously they read the kanji incorrectly)

when the dubbing is good - i prefer dubbed any day over subbed...

even if the sub is good, there is some fun taken away from having to read every scene or dialogue... you miss some action - if you know what i mean.

regarding the japanese original voices - sure i like it. but there are rare cases where i'd rather not watch them - but very rare.

the problem with dubbing here in the phil IMO - most of the dubbers/scriptwriters/producers don't really care much about the anime or the fans. i guess coz they know most fans wouldn't watch it anyways. realistically speaking, they just dub it for the sake of the filipinos who want to watch anime but can't understand japanese.

surprising though, in spite of the dominance of unscrupulous people in the dubbing industry, there are still a handful of dubbers/scriptwriters/producers who still care about quality - i admire these filipinos. they are the ones who make me NOT hate tagalog dubbing entirely...

zzzuuuiii
^
^but its kinda sad...
those professional dubbers are not that active now.

I miss Filipino dubbers like from magic knight rayearth...slam dunk... dragon ball...
and many more...

animes dubbers today are replaced by new persons who you said just dub for the sake of fans who wants to watch anime but cant understand jap.

so hate to say but I prefer watching anime with good subtitles than whatching on philippine tv. maybe im just used to it.
ahaha.
sensui_meganji
subbed or dubbed, its still anime for me. but if you make me choose, ill choose the subbed kind.
Yumi
well it depends on one's preferences.. if you're too lazy to read.. then stick with dubbed anime. but if you want to learn a little Nippon go then stick with the subbed anime.. if there are crappy subs that changes the meaning/names in the story.. so is true with crappy dubs... if i am not mistaken, eugene, alfred, vicent, denis etc.. that is not the jap translation of their names. kagebunshin times 2 times 2?? oh please... pero in fairness.. cute sya huh!! hehehe
.m.e.l.l.o.
uhmm

4 mah opinion..

it depends sa pagkaka-dub or pagkaka-sub..

its just that some dubbers and the one putting subs

really sux..

kaya it depends..

pero i prefer the 'dubbed' ones..

for i can see the whole scene if it is dubbed..

i can appreciate it more..

i just cant put away my eyes on the subs if it is subbed..

xD

same here..!!

it depends really..
there are subbed ones na wrong grammING ung subs..
and dubbed ones that .. should we say... degrades the quality of the anime.. haha

the good thing about the dubbed ones is that i could still understand the anime even without having to watch the whole scene..
ung subbed ones naman..
d matanggal mata ko sa TV..!!:XD:

another thing..
sa subbed, i get to know a little japanese and their voices are so kawaii!!!!
sa dubbed.. most dubbers now are...amateurs...
ndi na maganda.. (--."
P.G.
Guess I'll be having it at subbed, the original seiyu are more good than dubbed to eng etc, I even got their char cds
Well If you ask me, I'll go for DVD releases, w/ no dub/sub.

i know a lot of pro dubbers are still active... there's just tons of dubbed shows out there now so it would be quite hard to spot them - unlike before...

well, some pro dubbers from before are kinda old now(i guess) so they really have to be replaced with new people(although in ABS i hear, there is still a number of old people that don't want to be replaced, even if they should. hehe...) i guess the real problem here is, how the heck do obviously "un-gifted" people get to be dubbers anyway?! red tape? connections? or are the producers just desperate?

hmm, there is nothing really bad with not watching tagalog dub - who can blame you if your ears bleed from the awful dubbing?

me, i just happen to chance upon really good dubbed anime which compels me to watch... but honestly, sometimes i just watch crappy dubbing to get a good laugh...

hehe, ya. subs can kill the excitement sometimes, so ya - it can be an effort to read...

i hate it when they change the japanese names - that's a no-no for me. although i must admit, the names did somehow suit the characters... they did this for the MKR (ABS version) too - the names here didn't sound right though.

aki_reishi
i prefer subbed also...

you can learn nihongo by just listening...

though i don't have anything against dubbers...

i just hate them when they screw things up...

hate telesuccess... hehehehe..(just for the record, it was the dubbing studio that messes up the dubbing, not just the dubbers)

Pwede bang sumali sa talk ninyo.

Well binasa kong lahat mga opinion ninyo.

LOL oo naman noh.

if i can understand japanesse i wont go for sub version or any dubbed one.. mahirap kasing magbasa, then minsan di ko na napapansin ung animation.

for the dubbed i guess depende talaga sa dubbers happy.gif
Megaorv
hehe

pero kung ako ang magpipilian

well

I CHOOSE dubbed

nakasanayan ko na kasi ehh

emo-oh05.gif emo-oh05.gif
Megaorv
opppssss.....

tama pala kayo

mas maganda pala yong subbed..
pero....

gusto ko parin yong dubbed

pero

mas maganda ang subbed kaysa dubbed emo-oh05.gif emo-oh05.gif

I'm also on the side of sub

because it make me freaking out when I heared ang ENG dub or another language other than JAP

cause I can also learn new language and meaning in anime when it comes to sub.
tifa_lockhart74
subbed ftw. emo-oh14.gif

i hate dubbed,..either pinoy or english dubbed... emo-oh23.gif

i always watch subbed ones coz they look much clearer to me.. emo-oh22.gif emo-oh36.gif

emo-oh56.gif
the17thmoon
i prefer it subbed. i think maybe because the anime is of japanese origin. consider other animations for that matter. they also kinda look and sound "out of it" when they are dubbed by another language.. or that would just be me thinking it..? emo-oh27.gif hehe..
nevermind
subbed for me... i hate dubbed imo it destroys the original content of the show... peace... emo-oh37.gif
jeibe
depends.. if the voice actors are really good then it would be okay..
because sometimes when its dubbed they cant express the real emotions that the original seiyu did.. emo-oh36.gif
Anime_Lover01
subbed for me.
but I hate Philippine dub more on Chinese!
