1. These contests are open to participants of all ages. There are no special registration fees or contest fees required to join these competitions.
2. The Book Your Cosplay Contests are open to any characters of a literary nature. These include characters that have been published through novels, comic books, short stories, etc. at some point. Acceptable characters may have originated from movies (Predator, Aliens, etc.), television shows (Star Trek, Transformers, etc.) or games (Dragonlance, Warhammer 40k, etc.) but have launched their own, unique written work whether through books, comics, poetry, etc.
3. The Book Your Cosplay Contest event will be held on two days (September 13 and 14, 2008). Day 1 (September 13) will feature the “Cosplay Chronicle Contest” while Day 2 (September 14) will feature the “Your Cosplay Story Contest”.
4. The cosplay registration will be both an online (at http://www.cosplay.ph) and on-site (from 8:30 am to 9:30 am on September 13-14, 2008).
5. Cosplayers under eighteen (18) years of age as of cosplay event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form which will be distributed at the event.
6. A dressing room/baggage counter will be available at the venue but will be restricted to use of registered cosplayers and their assistants only. The cosplay management team reserves the right to refuse entry to individuals that are not registered cosplayers, cosplay management staff, MIBF organizers or SMX security. Baggage placed in this area must be stored neatly and valuables should be kept on your person. The cosplay management team, MIBF organizers, and SMX security will not be responsible to the loss of any items stored in this area.
7. Fanservice (ie. “yaoi”, “yuri”, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited.
8. Revealing costumes of any kind are strictly prohibited. Modifications can be made to the costume, however, that will make it eligible as long as those changes are deemed sufficient by the cosplay management team (example of modifications include wearing shorts under extremely short skirts or wearing a tan-colored t-shirt underneath a revealing top). The cosplay management team has the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.
9. All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to the other cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. No firearms or realistic replicas of firearms will be allowed. Also, any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that are sharp enough to cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic or liquid-projecting equipment/s that will be used as costume props is also strictly prohibited.
10. The cosplay management team, MIBF organizers and their staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.
11. The cosplay management team reserves the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines.
12. Registration and participation to the cosplay event constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the authority to MIBF organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered cosplayers, cosplay groups and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.
13. The judges’ decision on the Book Your Cosplay Contest winners is final and cannot be appealed.
14. The MIBF organizers and the cosplay organizing team reserve the right to alter certain sections of the contest rules or segments of the schedule without prior notice.

Cosplay Chronicle Contest
======================
1. There will be no entry limit for the Individual Cosplay. However, participants must be at the venue and in costume by 9:30 AM on September 13, 2008 to be included in the official list of Individual Cosplay participants.
2. Individual cosplay participants are also qualified to join the “Your Cosplay Story” event the next day.
3. Participants will be required to go on-stage from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm for a small performance segment to show off their costume and engage the audience with their performance.
4. The awarding ceremony will be held shortly after the cosplay catwalk on-stage. Prizes will be awarded to four deserving cosplayers.
5. The judging criteria is as follows:
Costume Quality (Costume Accuracy and Craftsmanship): 50%
Character Portrayal (Performance): 30%
Character Knowledge (via short Q&A portion): 10%
Visual Appeal: 10%
Total: 100%
6. Winners based on these criteria will be awarded under the following categories:
1) Chronicle Champion – Best Overall Score
2) Most Heroic Protagonist – Best Hero or Superhero
3) Villain Most Vile – Best Villain or Antagonist
4) Most Appealing Apprentice – Best cosplayer under 13 years of age
7. Prizes will be as follows:
1) Chronicle Champion – Php 5,000 in cash and prizes
2) Most Heroic Protagonist – Php 2,000 in cash and prizes
3) Villain Most Vile – Php 2,000 in cash and prizes
4) Most Appealing Apprentice – Php 1,000 in cash and prizes

Your Cosplay Story Contest
=======================
1. A cosplay group must consist of four (4) members and one narrator. The four members must be in costume, but the narrator may or may not be in costume.
2. There will be any entry limit of ten (10) groups for the “Your Cosplay Story Contest”. All groups must be pre-registered via online registration at http://www.cosplay.ph.
3. A member of a particular cosplay group can only join ONE COSPLAY GROUP and he/she will not allowed to join multiple cosplay group/s.
4. All cosplay groups will be given a 3 to 5-minute literary script to be provided by the cosplay management one week before the competition proper in order to rehearse the lines and create a performance. Examples would be: Naruto Characters doing a segment of Romeo and Juliet or Bleach Characters doing Les Misérables.
5. All cosplay groups will be required to go on-stage from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm to perform their script.
6. All cosplay groups are encouraged to act out their script, inserting their own flavor and assigning characters to certain parts. Performances may use impromptu materials and props and should be entertaining, but (although some edits are allowed to fit it into their characters) the script must remain true to the source material.
7. The judging criteria is as follows:
Costume Quality (Costume Accuracy and Craftsmanship): 20%
Performance Portrayal (Acting and Performance Acumen): 40%
Creativity (Imagination and Appropriateness of Character Portrayal): 30%
Entertainment Value (Amusement Level and Audience Impact): 10%
Total: 100%
8. One group will be proclaimed the Cosplay Bestseller, the overall winner based on the above criteria will receive Php 10,000 in cash and prizes.
