Basic Role-Playing FAQs
What is Role-playing?
Role-playing, is basically acting, or better yet, playing a role. Like in the popular RPG series, you play the role of a character in the game. It's the same here. The only difference is, we do text-based role-playing, instead of getting it on with actual graphics and actions.
RPG Acronyms
RP (Role-Player) = Someone who is playing the game
ORIGINAL CHARACTER RP = Characters that are not based on anime, originally created by the RP
CANON RP = If you want to STICK to the manga or anime. It is a lot harder than Original Char RP since you need to know what really goes on in the anime or manga.
Free-form Role-play - A free-form role-play is a role-play where it is usually started without any set plot. Generally, it's more relaxed and easier for players to join at any time.
What are NPCs, GM and BM?
'NPC' stands for Non-Playable Character. NPCs are characters that can be controlled by any of the role-players. The opposite is PC, which means Playable Character that is role-played mainly by its role-player who created it.
'GM' stands for Game Master. The GM can be the role-play creator or the role-play manager, and they are the ones in charge of how the role-play itself is run and in some cases, they are the ones responsible for moving the plot on. If you have any questions regarding the role-play, the GM is the one to approach. Admins are automatically GMs.
"BM" stands for Battle Master. The BM is the one that controls the PVP role-play. Admins are automatically BMs.
How do I join a RPG?
First thing to do is to read the RPG Introduction and the RPG Rules, then create a character profile topic and wait for the Admins' approval. After your profile is approved, start posting in the topic, and then you're officially a part of the AE Role-Playing Community.

Just follow the rules in creating a RPing Character.
How to role-play?
Basically, the flow style of RP, the first person will introduce the world, history and storyline, may or may not include their own character.
The next person who responds would probably introduce their characters and possibly interact with the first as well as expanding on the world and storyline. The general idea is the story unfolds as each person posts and the control is more in the hands of the individual characters as opposed to a GM (Game Master).
Since we are newbies in RPing, I decided to use Orignal Character RP.
We can also use anime characters of an anime.
For example: [Bleach] characters should have their powers, skills, personality and appearance based on the anime. But you're not going to play in flow of the Anime Series. Deviation is allowed.
Can I be the GM?
Yes, of course you can be a GM. First, you must check if the role-play you are creating meets the Basic Guidelines and make sure the Role-play your going to do doesn't have an identical one.
Can I join more than one role-play at a time?
If you can manage being in more than one role-play at a time. If being in several role-plays makes it hard for you to handle, or becomes a burden, it may not be wise to do so.
